Fire restrictions lifted for Huerfano County

Cooler temperatures and increased moisture influenced officials to remove fire restrictions for Huerfano County on Tuesday.

The Huerfano County Division of Emergency Services asks that even though the restrictions are lifted, anyone who may be burning should make sure weather conditions are appropriate and that no fire is left unattended.

Fire danger remains a serious concern to residents of Huerfano County due to very dry conditions in many parts of the County.

La Veta Fire Protection District residents should contact the La Veta Fire Protection District at (719) 742-3656 before burning. Other residents within the county will notify the Emergency Communication Center at (719) 738-1044 before to burning.
