$10k awarded to Boys & Girls Club of Pueblo

The Boys and Girls Club of Pueblo received a generous gift on Tuesday.

The Club was awarded a $10,000 grant from the Xcel Energy Foundation that will go towards its “STEM” program.

“STEM” stands for science, technology, engineering and math.

The program is for students ages 6 through 18 and helps generate interest in math and science.

It’s also designed to help them reach future goals.

“Introducing kids to those concepts and careers, exploring and doing the activities but then getting them on job sites and introducing them to people in the profession. Putting them on job sites so they can see that and they can see themselves on that campus,” said Becky Medina, vice president of the Boys and Girls Club.

The grant will also help fun after school programs.
