Olympic gold medalist predicted his future in book, written years ago

Winning a gold medal is something Olympian Ryan Murphy had dreamed of since he was a boy.

Now, he’s gotten his wish.

The 21-year-old phenom set a new record for the 100-meter backstroke at his first summer games.

However, he had an eye for it long before.

When he was eight, he wrote a book to his parents called “My Swimming Life.”

The book, dedicated to his mom, detailed his dreams.

“I hope my swimming life continues and I become an Olympian,” Murphy wrote, along with a picture of him donning a gold medal. “I hope I will break the world records. I want to be the best swimmer in the world.”

Murphy is hoping to go for a second gold medal on Thursday. And, of course, his mom will be cheering for him from the stands.
