Clinton, Pence to stump in Colorado Wednesday

Six days after accepting the Democratic Party nomination, Hillary Clinton is about to stump in Colorado.

She’ll be at Adams City High School Wednesday afternoon to talk jobs and the economy.

“We’ve always known Colorado is going to be an important state,” Clinton supporter Tom Blair of Colorado Springs said. “Getting her here early gets the troops fired up and get the vote out for her.”

GOP vice presidential nominee, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is also stopping in this swing state.

Clinton is expected to speak about an hour after Pence in Denver. Pence is expected at the Antlers Hotel in Colorado Springs at 6 p.m.

The Pence stop in the Springs marks two visits from the top and bottom half of the Republican ticket in five days.

Pence’s visit comes as the campaign is on the defensive over Trump’s controversial comments toward Gold Star parents who spoke at the DNC.

The Trump campaign trails Clinton in organization across Colorado.

The campaign co-chair statewide, Robert Blaha, argues the traditional campaign structure must be thrown out in 2016

“This is like having Bono in the state,” Blaha said. “The thing about Donald Trump is the excitement he brings, the excitement is unparalleled.

Clinton backers hope her organization, 12 offices in this state alone, will produce a key victory here in November.

“She has a big lead and she has a powerful game on the ground, I expect to win Colorado and win it big,” Blair said. “But, I don’t like to take anything for granted, that’s how you lose.”

Polls show Clinton leading Trump in Colorado by an average of eight points.

She will be at Adams City High School tomorrow in Commerce City. Doors open at 1:15 p.m.

Doors open at 3 p.m. at the Antlers for the Pence event that’s scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
