Report: Springs year-over-year rent increase is highest in nation

A new report from apartmentlist.com says rents increased faster between July 2015 and July 2016 in Colorado Springs than in any other city.

The report says Colorado Springs experienced an average rent increase of 10.4% in the last year, with a median rent rate of $1,000 for a 2-bedroom and $750 for a one bedroom.

Colorado Springs was the only Colorado city in the top ten, with Seattle, Reno, Vancouver, WA, and Alrington, TX rounding out the top 5.

Denver’s 3.2% increase in rents sounds small compared to the 10.4% increase in Colorado Springs, but Denver is still more expensive. The median price for a 2-bedroom in the Denver metro area is $1,800 and $1,300 for a one bedroom.

Denver is currently the 14th most expensive city in the nation to rent in, according to the report.

If you’re looking for a bargain, head south. The median price for a one bedroom in Huntsville, Alabama is $450 and $550 for a two bedroom.
