Second round of hail pummels southern Colorado

A hail storm caused lots of damage across El Paso County and other parts of southern Colorado Thursday night.

A KRDO Newschannel 13 crew drove up on a water rescue near Hancock Expressway and Clarendon Drive in Colorado Springs en route to another water rescue in Security-Widefield near Security and Fontaine boulevards.

KRDO Newschannel 13’s Emily Allen saw one foot of hail piled up on the road.

Colorado Springs police are telling residents not to travel Thursday night if possible.

Stormtracker 13 chief meteorologist Rachael Plath said there was tennis ball size hail reported at Peterson Air Force Base. Viewer Jason Bailey posted a picture of hail that busted out a window in his home on base.
