Digital news break: A visualization of Clinton & Trump’s acceptance speeches

Now that both the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates have accepted their parties’ nominations, we decided to do some comparing of their speeches.

As different as Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are, some elements of their speeches were pretty similar.

We put together word clouds as a way to visualize some of the words that appeared most often in each candidate’s speech.

Clinton’s speech focused a lot on working together. She used the word America 39 times and believe 20 times.

Donald Trump’s acceptance speech focused mostly on national pride.

Trump used the word America 60 times, ISIS 10 times and change 7 times.

Trump also mentioned his opponent’s name about half the number of times that she referenced him.
