Top Democrats energize crowd at convention

A triple threat of top Democrats electrified delegates and attendees at the party’s convention Wednesday night.

President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and Vice Presidential nominee Sen. Tim Kaine all delivered speeches that left little room for booing and chanting that has become commonplace at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia since the convention began.

Earlier Wednesday, delegates officially nominated Kaine by an obvious two third majority.

Kaine gained points with steadfast supporters of Bernie Sanders by acknowledging his movement and campaign.

“We should all feel the Bern, and we should not want to get burned by the other guy,” he said.

Throughout his speech, California delegates held up signs protesting Kaine’s prior support of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a trade agreement many of them believe will cost the west coast thousands of jobs.

Kaine never referenced the TPP in his address.

He instead drew laughs with his impression of Donald Trump and cheers with calls for the Republican nominee to release his tax returns.

“Does anyone believe Donald Trump is paying his fair share?” he asked the crowd.
They responded with a resounding “Noooo.”

Kaine also appealed to anti-Trump Republicans by inviting them into the Democratic Party if they feel their party has abandoned the ideals of Lincoln.

Several Sanders delegates from Colorado told KRDO Newschannel 13 they feel the combined impact of all three speeches will help to sway some Bernie supporters to get behind Hillary.

Clinton appeared briefly on stage with Barack Obama after his speech, and will take the stage for her address Thursday night.
