Strange smell leads to suspected illegal grow in Pueblo Co.

Pueblo County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Franco Munch, 36, after a concerned citizen called the 911 center to report a strong odor of skunk.

According to deputies, the caller said the basement windows of a home on the 1600 block of 28 th Lane were boarded up and thought a large ventilation system was being used to cultivate marijuana.

When deputies arrived, they spoke to Munch who said he had a medical marijuana grow in the house.

He allowed deputies inside, the sheriff’s office said. They found more than 140 plants.

Munch said all the plants were his and admitted they exceeded his plant count permissions. Deputies seized over $500,000 in marijuana and several thousand dollars more in equipment.
