Obama, Biden to address delegates Wednesday
Both President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will speak Wednesday night at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
Vice Presidential nominee Tim Kaine is also expected to address the convention Wednesday, to accept his nomination.
The three headliners will try to do what other speakers have struggled to do thus far… unify the party.
There was another obvious sign of division Tuesday evening when dozens of delegates left the convention floor after Hillary Clinton was nominated, officially ending a remarkable run by Bernie Sanders.
Despite a weekend email scandal that re-energized his supporters, Sanders has urged them in recent days to support Hillary Clinton.
However, a large percentage of them refuse to get behind Hillary, saying she doesn’t stand for the same ideas as Sanders.
The denial of the nomination to Sanders continues to fuel massive demonstrations outside the Wells Fargo Center and also near City Hall in downtown Philadelphia.
Tuesday night, four people were arrested by Philadelphia Police and Secret Service agents when they tried to climb over the perimeter fence to get into the secure zone outside the convention.
They are expected to appear before a federal magistrate on Wednesday.
