Clinton camp does not renew ad buy in Colorado
A $22 million Hillary Clinton campaign ad buy in Colorado ended Monday.
The campaign said Tuesday it has no renew the buy.
The Trump campaign thinks the decision is a sign Clinton is struggling in this battleground.
“She’s not spending money in Colorado, she’s not coming here,” Patrick Davis, Trump’s state director said. “Donald Trump on the other hand, he coming here Friday. We’re opening offices, we’re hiring staff, we’re not taking this state for granted.”
Despite Davis’ claims, the Clinton campaign has opened 12 offices across the state. The Trump campaign has opened two.
Clinton has visited the state five times, most recently at the end of June. Trump’s visit to the Springs this week will be his second to Colorado in the campaign.
The numbers show Clinton ahead in the Centennial State. Two polls taken before the conventions show Clinton leading Trump by 13 and eight points.
The Trump team is yet to buy television ads in the swing state and Clinton organizers are focusing on organization, phone banking and canvassing.
“As soon as I introduce myself, they say thank you for calling me,” Clinton supporter and high school teacher Tom Jacobs said. “I’m excited I needed to talk to someone else who’s excited. We’re enthused.”
The Clinton campaign said its decision to temporarily pull back ads in this critical state with nine electoral votes, does not mean you won’t see Clinton or running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine stump in Colorado over the next few months.
