Water restrictions in Falcon leave many looking for answers
People living in Falcon experienced a water outage Sunday. Monday morning, water is up and running again, but with restrictions.
The Falcon Highlands Metropolitan District has yet to give an explanation for the outage.
“Not knowing is probably way worse than what happened, I hope,” said James Thomas, a Falcon resident.
Thomas said he first noticed the water outage around 4:30 a.m. Sunday. “I got up to make some coffee, turned on the faucet and there was no water,” said Thomas.
Thomas said the district gave no notice of the outage or an explanation for it.
“We call, it took us about an hour to get through, and they say, ‘We’ll get back with you.’ We talked with neighbors, and they did the same thing,” said Thomas.
Donald Parker had the same problem.
“They should have let us know that something is wrong,” said Parker.
The water district’s website suggests that people conserve water. The website said officials are aware of the issue and they are working on it. It does not identify the issue or why water stopped running without notifying residents.
The district recommends that residents conserve water and shut off taps while it works to refill the tank.
The outage also affected several nearby businesses, at least one of which had to temporarily close.
“I realized there was no water in the store at all, none in the bathroom, none in the sinks up front. We were able to get approval from the managers to close the store down because we didn’t have any running water. It wasn’t OK to keep it open,” said Elizabeth Navarro, the assistant manager of McDonald’s.
Several other fast-food restaurants were also without water. Although it’s flowing again, many people are still left wondering.
“It’s just very scary. I’m going to be happy with any answers, even if it’s a bad answer, as long as I have an answer,” said Thomas.
The district hasn’t answered any of our calls seeking comment.
