Car windows shattered in Old Colorado City

Property crimes seem to rise during the summer months, and this year is no exception.

People across western Colorado Springs are dealing with shattered windows on their vehicles. It didn’t take long to find them either.

KRDO found eight cars that were vandalized in or near Old Colorado City.
The seemingly random acts of destruction could be spotted window after window.

“I’m super upset, it ruined my whole day. There’s glass all inside the car, I can’t sit in it because I’ll get shards of glass on me,” said one driver, Joanna Estrada.

“It makes you feel a little uncomfortable and less secure in your neighborhood,” said Anita Fraser-Day.

Shards of glass can be found on Pikes Peak Avenue, Kiowa, Bijou streets and more areas.

“It looks like somebody put a rock through my windshield,” said Estrada.
A few drivers found a rock lying near their shattered windows.

“I don’t understand, there wasn’t even theft involved, just pure destruction,” said Fraser-Day.

Police say this was a big hit and officers saw the same thing happen around this time last year.
