81-year-old driver accused in Denver teen’s death dies

An 81-year-old woman accused of crashing into and killing a 13-year-old Denver boy has died.

A family spokesman told KUSA-TV that Patricia Livingston died Saturday night at Denver Hospice as a result of complications from the July 13 crash. The Denver District Attorney’s Office confirmed her death Monday and said her careless driving charge would be dropped.

Police say Livingston was swerving in and out of traffic and failed to negotiate a curve when she hit Cole Sukle and a friend as they stood on the sidewalk and a bike lane. She kept driving for several blocks and crashed into a creek.

Livingston’s family says they limited her driving after she crashed into a stopped car in October but she wasn’t ticketed. The other driver didn’t want to press charges.
