RNC wraps up with critical speech from Trump

Normally, the speech from a nominee at a political convention focuses on the candidate’s platform and rallying the troops to vote against the other party’s nominee.

Donald Trump will have to do a bit more than that on Thursday night.

Following months of strategizing by anti-Trump delegates to avoid casting a ballot for him that nearly succeeded after an uprising on Monday, and a day after Senator Ted Cruz was booed off stage after declining to verbally support him in his speech to the convention, Trump faces a fractured party that is in need of healing and unity.

All week, even the Colorado delegates who were not part of the anti-Trump movement have told KRDO Newschannel 13 that they are slow to transition from supporting Cruz to supporting Trump, and feel they need to hear more from him first before getting behind him.

They said they hope to see him finally act presidential, and they hope he will acknowledge that he doesn’t yet have the support of all Republicans.

Three polls released on Sunday show Trump trailing Hillary, but only by a small margin.
