Pence accepts VP nomination, Cruz booed in Cleveland

It was a bitter nomination fight and former presidential candidate, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz reminded delegates inside Quicken Loans Arena and those watching at home, there are still hard feelings.

“Stand and speak and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend your freedom and the Constitution,” Cruz said. After that remark, Cruz was booed and chants of “We want Trump” echoed throughout the hall.

After Cruz spoke, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence accepted the vice presidential nomination. Pence logged more than a decade in Congress before becoming governor of the Hoosier State and now he’s teamed up with the quintessential outsider, Donald Trump, to try to win the White House.

Until now he’s had to do it all by himself against all odds,” Pence said, “but this week with this united party, he’s got back up and on November 8, I know we will elect Donald Trump to be the 45th President of the United States of America.”

Pence argued this election comes down to two names on the ballot.

“Democrats are about to nominate someone everyone is tired of,” he said. “Hillary Clinton wants a better title. I would too if i was the Secretary of the status quo.”

Trump tweeted late Wednesday night: “Cruz got booed off the stage, didn’t honor the pledge! I saw his speech two hours early but let him speak anyway. No big deal!”
