Colorado GOP Voter on Cruz RNC speech: “That was the longest suicide note he ever read”

Republican Tom Antkow had serious doubts about Donald Trump from the beginning. After months of staying on the fence about Trump, Antkow is coming around to support the GOP standard bearer.

“I’m going to swallow hard and do what’s best for our country,” Antkow said. “I certainly don’t think Hillary Clinton is best for our country.”

Antkow was disappointed in Trump’s former foe, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz when he wouldn’t endorse Trump Wednesday night in Cleveland. Cruz told delegates to ‘vote their conscience.’

“It was the longest suicide note he had ever read,” Antkow said.

Conservative blogger and #NeverTrump organizer Aaron Gardner thinks Cruz did not go far enough to denounce Trump.

“This is probably the reason why he lost in the first place,” Gardner said. “Leaders lead. People who don’t lead get left behind. If you leave it ambiguous in a choose your own adventure story, you’re not leading anybody.”

Gardner doesn’t know what to do in November.

“I am at a loss for the presidential race,” he said. “I may leave that blank and vote down ballot and salvage what we can out of this.”

KRDO political analyst, UCCS professor Josh Dunn believes Cruz’s non endorsement of Trump in Cleveland was the senator’s first speech of his 2020 presidential campaign.
