Alcohol to blame for Thursday morning closure of Northbound I-25

Northbound lanes on I-25 near Monument are back open after multiple accidents closed the interstate Thursday morning. Colorado State Patrol says two crashes involving alcohol were to blame.

The interstate closed around 2:30 a.m. near mile marker 164, between Larkspur and Greenland. State troopers say one driver and a passenger suffered severe injuries.

Authorities investigated the first crash at mile post 164. A crash near Monument was the second DUI accident. KRDO Newschannel 13 is working to confirm more about the crashes.
