A 39-year-old man who was found dead on Highway 94 in Colorado Springs is the victim of homicide, investigators said.
The body of Gerillermo Escobar-Torres, 39, was discovered on July 15 by a witness on the highway at mile marker 3.5, between Marksheffel Road and Blaney Road in Colorado Springs.
The cause of Escobar-Torres’s death was determined to be a gunshot wound, and his death was ruled as a homicide.
It was the 12th homicide in Colorado Springs in 2016 so far.
Investigators say they are focusing their efforts on events that happened before and after Escobar-Torres was found.

Two vehicles were seen leaving the scene during that time frame. The first is a green, full-sized Toyota pickup and the second is a four-door, silver Volkswagen
