Wait times down at DIA

Security checkpoint wait times at Denver International Airport dropped in June, which officials have attributed to a major overhaul of how they’re working to keep passengers safe across the nation.

Travelers waited an average of 18 minutes to pass through Transportation Security Administration at DIA last month. That compares to the 25-minute wait times logged from February to May.

TSA chief Peter Neffenger told the Denver Post (http://dpo.st/29JItWT) Monday the agency “dramatically turned things around” on Memorial Day. That progress was clear in Denver, where average wait times totaled an hour or more weeks leading up to the holiday.

TSA says travelers should expect lines to get even shorter as the agency becomes more efficient through automation and continues to boost its workforce.

TSA officials reported average wait times of 10 minutes at DIA on Sunday.
