Traffic terrors continue in Springs neighborhood

Despite repeated repairs, streets in one Colorado Springs neighborhood continue to have problems.

There are significant cracks in the Soaring Eagles Subdivision, near the airport.

City employees told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that the asphalt keeps moving and they are not sure why.

For extra strength, the next step is a test strip on Tail Spin Drive where the asphalt has a layer of fiberglass underneath.

“I think they probably should have done it on one of the major roads since that’s where most of the traffic is instead of one of the neighborhood roads. Sometimes, I think the amount of traffic on a road has something to do with it,” said Joseph Addison, Soaring Eagles resident.

The city added that this kind of street cracking is common on the east side in subdivisions that were built before the city raised its development standards.
