Study: Asthma increases living near fracking sites

Researchers say living close to a fracking site could increase your risk of asthma. Patients are four times more likely to have asthma attacks, if they live near larger fracking wells.

Fracking is the process of extracting oil and gas from the ground through drilling and the injection of high-pressure water.

Researchers say more studying is needed on how stress and air pollution affect the relationship between the worsening of asthma and nearby fracking wells.

Authors of the study looked at family history, smoking, economic status and proximity to roads. The study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association of Internal Medicine.
