Man to testify against family for COS teen’s murder

A Colorado Springs man plans to testify against his family in the killing of a teen over a cell phone.

In July of 2015, 13-year-old Desmond Smith was shot to death in Memorial Park.

Raymond Rogan Junior pled guilty to attempted child abuse resulting in death and accessory to a crime in exchange for his testimony against his uncle Riccardo Kirven and his father, Raymond Rogan Senior. The two are facing murder charges.

Smith was with two friends when he was shot in the chest last summer. Police say the shooting stemmed from suspicion that he had taken Rogan Junior’s cell phone.
