Glenn gets primetime slot at RNC

A U.S. Senate candidate represented Southern Colorado on the stage of the Republican National Convention. Darryl Glenn enjoyed a primetime slot on stage at Quicken Loans Arena Monday night.

Glenn called Colorado the number one battleground state in the country.

The El Paso County Commissioner gave a rousing speech at the state convention in April, one that helped him to win the Senate primary.

Following the racial tension across the country, Glenn emphatically defended police officers Monday night.

He got in a jab at Hillary Clinton’s pantsuits.

“We should send her an email and tell her she deserves a bright orange jumpsuit,” Glenn said.

The Air Force veteran said the U.S. must strengthen our military and called President Obama the “Divider-in-Chief.”

“Mr. President, I have a message,” Glenn said. “This is not about Black America, White America or Brown America. This is about the United States of America. Someone with a nice tan needs to say this, all lives matter.”

Glenn outlined why he is a Republican.

“It’s because the Democrat party is the party of handouts and after over 7 1/2 years all we have left in our pocket is change,” Glenn said.

The Colorado Democratic Party Chairman, Rick Palacio, responded to Glenn’s speech.

“When people see and hear what Darryl Glenn stands for they realize he’s not standing up for Colorado, Palacio said. “He’s standing up for his unapologetic, extreme conservativism. He endorses Donald Trump and thinks he’s a patriot.”

Glenn is the only African American candidate running for the Senate this fall on the GOP side.

Recent polls show Glenn is trailing incumbent Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet by about 12 points.
