Boy pulled from Lake Pueblo identified

A 9-year-old boy who died after nearly drowning in Lake Pueblo has been identified.

The Pueblo Coroner’s Office says Michael Wommack was from Colorado Springs.

According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, officials responded to the swimming beach at roughly 4:45 p.m. Sunday to look for the boy.

Within 45 minutes the boy was found and flown to Saint Mary-Corwin Medical Center.

Authorities announced on Monday afternoon that he had died.

Officials are still unsure of the exact cause and time of the boy’s death.
