RNC to focus on national security Monday

Making America safe again is the focus of the first full day of the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

Tens of thousands of delegates and attendees swarmed downtown Cleveland on Sunday.

They were greeted by volunteers at the airport making sure everyone knew where they needed to go, and an army of law enforcement officers on the street making sure everyone knew where NOT to go.

Despite a few small scale peaceful protests that temporarily put the Quicken Loans arena on lockdown Sunday, it was mainly a final warmup day for party organizers and security forces.

Monday’s list of speakers include retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, veterans activist Jason Beardsley, and others.

Over the weekend, an effort to free delegates of their obligation to vote for Donald Trump failed.

A similar effort is expected to take place on the floor of the arena Monday, but political insiders tell KRDO Newschannel 13 they do not expect the uprising to be successful in allowing delegates to cast their ballot for another candidate.
