Services on Friday for Colorado’s Bill Armstrong

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has ordered flags at public buildings to be flown at half-staff on Friday to honor former U.S. Sen. Bill Armstrong, who passed away last week.

The governor’s office says funeral services for Armstrong are being held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Cherry Hills Community Church in Highlands Ranch. The services are open to the public.

Armstrong was a prominent media executive and a major conservative voice in the U.S. Senate, where he served two terms. He also served in the state legislature and three terms as a U.S. congressman.

Armstrong is survived by his wife, Ellen, two children and eight grandchildren.
