One person hurt in early-morning shooting, police say

One person was taken to the hospital after a shooting early Wednesday morning, according to Colorado Springs police.

Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 3000 block of Colony Hills Road around 12:45 a.m.

That is near the intersection of South Academy Boulevard and the Milton Proby Parkway on the southern side of Colorado Springs.

Investigators said the victim was found with a gunshot wound to the lower back.

A witness said they saw a car driving away from the scene along Drennan Road. It’s described as a small red sports car, police said.

So far, no arrests have been made.

The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is on going.
