Outside agencies prepare to help

string of fires across southern colorado presents a challenge to many local agencies… how to help out… but also be ready for local emergencies. bottles of water… crates of supplies ready… as volunteers try to help. sot: not only do they know how to handle this professionally, they’re also qualified to go behind those front lines. these supplies are going to firefighters sot there’s no resources out there. standup: fromt he volunteers trying to help to the firefighters trying to put that thing out as fast as possible, engines like these are just a small part of the big effort to respond if necessary. fountain fire sending crews out to several major ones across colorado… and pueblo posting this picture of firefighters preparing to head to coaldale. sot: we’re continually looking at fuels in the region, so we know the potential for a large fire to break out. lieutenant brad starling knows wildfires – he was on the front lines for black forest and waldo canyon… and many others. sot: putting that knowledge and skillset to work on an actual fire. his equipment stands ready at all times… fire boots, lightweight pants that are fire resistant. we’re going to use a lot of hoses, nozzles for water, dig a line, and separate the fuel from the fire. as fire grow faster and fiercer… than originally feared. lieutenant starling and many others in csfd say they’re part of something called ross. they subscribe to go on long range missions to fight these fires. some of those deployments can last up to two weeks. so far, they specifically haven’t been requested to join the fight yet. live in cs, gm, nc 13. many
