Armed robbers target Pokemon Go app users

A group of armed men are taking advantage of Pokemon Go users in Missouri.

The O’Fallon Missouri Police Department posted on Facebook that Sunday morning around 2 a.m., four suspects in a black BMW used the Pokemon Go app to commit a robbery.

Officers believe the suspects added a beacon to a pokestop so that they could lure more players. They could also use the app to locate people standing around in their area.

These same men are suspected of other armed robberies in St. Louis and St. Charles Counties.

The police department also issued the following warning:

“If you use this app (or other similar type apps) or have children that do we ask you to please use caution when alerting strangers of your future location.”
