UPDATE: Colorado Springs makes top 10 rudest cities in U.S. list

Survey results released by Travel and Leisure place Colorado Springs in the top 10 rudest cities in America list.

Colorado Springs No. 9 in a list of the country’s rudest cities.

The website gathered the results from the latestAmerica’s Favorite Placessurvey. Voters ranked big cities (with populations over 100,000) on the activities available to tourists, how safe the city feels and how nice the locals seem to be.

The survey was opened to the public in October and ended in April.

Even though the Springs didn’t score well in hospitality, the city did get high scores for its access to galleries, museums, theater and free attractions including hiking and camping.

Colorado Springs tourism spokesperson Chelsy Offutt questioned the study and its results.

“I don’t really know what the research is behind it but it seems a little faulty,” said Offutt. “We hear from people how great it is that when people say hello or they come from the East Coast, that people will give them directions or hand them a visitor guide, so I find it very hard to believe that we are one of the rudest cities.”

She said recent numbers also tell a different story. According to the newest data available, tourism was up 18 percent in April.

“We are really hopeful that continues through the end of summer,” said Offutt.

Miami, Florida, claims the list’s top spot. When it comes to being rude or snobby, this beach paradise scored very high.
