Fort Carson soldier dies in ATV crash

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man who died in an ATV accident near Fountain Saturday.

The crash happened at around 2:15 p.m. near the intersection of Mesa Ridge Parkway and Autumn Glen Avenue.

Sgt. Miguel A. Diaz, 26, was stationed at Fort Carson. The Mountain Post released the following statement about his death: “It is always hard to lose a part of our military family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sgt. Miguel Diaz’ family and friends during this very difficult time.”

Diaz joined the Army in 2009 and had been stationed at Fort Carson since December 2, 2014.
