Woman killed in rafting accident in Chaffee County

The Caffee County Sheriff’s Office say a woman is dead after a rafting accident near Salida.

It happened Sunday afternoon about 15 miles north of Salida.

Investigators say Sandra Johnson, 51, was ejected from the raft when it hit a rock while in Class 4 rapids. She was pulled to safety, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is the first rafting fatality in Chaffee County of the 2016 season.
