People race in honor of fallen cyclist

Cyclists from all over the world are racing to honor one of their own.

The Vic Williams Memorial Race took place at the Velodrome in Memorial Park Saturday.

Williams died in a cycling accident at the Velodrome two years ago.

Andy Sparks, a Team USA cycling coach, said the race is a living memorial to make sure people don’t forget about Williams.

“I think to me, Vic Williams embodied everything about this sport people that contribute selflessly to basically helping out others,” he said.

The race was also preparing cyclists for next month’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
