Man in custody after early morning assualt

A man is in custody and facing assault charges after an early morning traffic stop, according to Colorado Springs police.

Investigators said the driver, later identified as Christopher, 44, was pulled over at 1:43 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Powers Boulevard and North Carefree Circle.

According to officers, Toy did not have a driver’s license. Officers said he then resisted them as they tried to take him into custody.

As an officer tried to put him in handcuffs Toy fought to get away from the officer and ran back to his truck.

Investigators said Toy drove away, but was caught a short time later in the 3600 block of North Carefree Circle.

Toy and two of the responding officers were treated at a local hospital.

Toy is facing charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, attempted second-degree assault on a peace officer, aggravated motor vehicle theft and resisting arrest.
