Woman shot in downtown Denver Tuesday dies

A woman who was shot in a downtown Denver office building Tuesday has died.

Police say the woman’s estranged husband took his own life after shooting her at the Alliance Center in the 1500 block of Wynkoop Street.

The shooting briefly created panic at around 2:40 p.m. as word of the shooting spread, prompting fears of a mass shooting.

People fled the Alliance Center as police searched the building. Nearby buildings were locked down and area streets were closed.
