Bicycle theft investigation led to Child Abuse citation for COS mom

What started out as an investigation into a stolen bicycle ended in a mother being cited for Child Abuse.

Ebony Lattimore was given the citation on Tuesday following officers’ discovery of her children left alone in what police described as a filthy home with no food available to them.

Officers with Sand Creek first responded to an address on Monica Drive to investigate a bicycle theft. This led them to Lattimore’s house in the 4000 block of Berryknoll Drive. While officers were trying to find the suspect, they found seven malnourished children inside the house.

The children are now in DHS custody.
