Cyclist killed in hit-and-run crash in Boulder

Authorities say a man has died after being hit by an SUV while riding his bicycle in Boulder.

The Daily Camera reports that 35-year-old William Davis, of Boulder, was fatally injured when the vehicle entered the bicycle lane Saturday evening.

Colorado State Trooper Alisha Danko says the 24-year-old driver left the scene but was later found and taken into custody. It’s not known what charges the suspect faces, but Danko says alcohol and speed are considered factors in the crash.

Saturday’s incident marks Boulder County’s third cyclist fatality since May. Eight-year-old Peyton Knowlton died on May 20 after being hit at an intersection in Longmont. On Tuesday, 46-year-old Shane Swope was also struck by a car in Longmont, and died the next day.
