Citizens face the climb to benefit Children’s Hospital Colorado
Hundreds of people raced almost 3,000 stairs to the finish line around Falcon Stadium on Saturday.
It was all part of the second annual “Climb for Courage” event.
The race is the only timed stair race in Colorado Springs and participants complete a 2,700 stair feat. The free family festival benefits Children’s Hospital Colorado.
And some runners we talked to say they’re happy to support the cause.
“I’m a nurse and I just feel that there are not a lot of opportunities for nurses in this area unless you’re willing to travel up to Denver, so the fact that a new hospital system is being built in this region is a great thing,” said one Climb for Courage participant.
Proceeds from the race will go toward building southern Colorado’s only comprehensive Children’s Hospital, set to open in 2018.
