Warning issued for storm victims following Monday night’s heavy hail

Heavy hail Monday night damaged cars, homes and gardens. Now insurance companies are urging people who have storm damage to proceed with caution when choosing someone to help fix it.

“With a hailstorm comes a transient industry that follows the damage, follows storms,” said James Bishop, owner of The Ding Guy.

The Ding Guy is busy following Monday’s storm. Bishop said people should do their research before choosing a company to repair damage, especially if the company came here right after the storm.

The Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association said word-of-mouth is the best guide. Make sure the autobody shop is reputable with established credibility and local references.

The Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association said someone’s insurance won’t go up if they file a claim for hail damage because the storm is out of one’s control, unlike an at-fault accident or speeding ticket.
