Homeless outreach to stop heroin use

A Pueblo homeless organization is encouraging the community to get involved in order to fight the heroin epidemic.

Sal Katz Jr. is the homeless outreach coordinator with POSADA, he spends his time volunteering and going to homeless camps to create relationships with the homeless population.

Katz says he sees drug use, mostly marijuana, but heroin use is increasing

“Fighting addiction and fighting homelessness because I think they correlate with each other and it’s just so important that the community itself binds together to fight these issues,” Katz said.

Katz visits homeless camps weekly to encourage drug users to seek help.
