Hail hits southern Colorado for third time this week

Parts of Falcon and Peyton in eastern El Paso County were a bullseye for hail during an intense storm Thursday afternoon.

Residents said pea-sized hail fell for about 30 minutes and left several inches of accumulation that looked like snow.

Most of the hail hit a square area bordered by Eastonville, Elbert, Murphy and Sweet roads.

“I was getting ready to head to my basement,” said Julius Hansen, a resident who took pictures of the hail. “It weighed my bushes down and bent them. It was a mess.”

No serious damage was reported.

Hail also pelted parts of southern Colorado on Monday and Wednesday.
