Marijuana tax generates scholarships for Pueblo students

at 6 tonight … pueblo county students received the first-ever marijuana funded scholarships today. students from various high schools gathered to be recognized at the pueblo county commissioners meeting this morning. each student who received the scholarship will be attending either pueblo community college or c-s-u- pueblo this coming fall. the scholarships are completely funded by the excise tax on marijuana in pueblo county. kendra davenport went to pueblo east high school… and will attend c-s-u- pueblo in the fall to study elementary education… the scholarship is helping her not have as many student loans. it would be a lot more difficult to go, i would have to take out more student loans and that kind of thing so it’s very helpful. the fund is set to grow over the coming years so that one million dollars in scholarships will be awarded to
