Mesa Avenue Bridge closure to cause traffic delays in Pueblo

Residents in parts of Pueblo will soon be looking at several months’ worth of road detours.

C-DOT says it will close the Mesa Avenue Bridge over Interstate 25 beginning on June 27. The bridge will undergo rehab work.

If you drive in the area, you know the bridge is showing its age.

A C-DOT spokesperson said the bridge is more than 50 years old and it’s overdue for some much needed care.

“We’re going to do some deck repairs, repair some bridge abutments. Once that’s done the whole thing will get a water proof membrane and seal,” said Scott Dalton with C-DOT.

Dalton said they also plan to add railings and fences to protect drivers and pedestrians. The entire project is expected to take two months.
