Ways to stay safe outdoors in the heat
good afternoon.. and thanks for joining us. i’m heather skold. and i’m bart bedsole… first at four.. trying to beat the heat in southern colorado.. lots of people heading outside today .. but not much relief.. a great day to hike, but emergency officials say, don’t forget about your safety.. it can only take a few minutes to get overheated.. and the danger of heat stroke is on the rise this time of year .. the colorado springs fire department recommends that hikers prepare themselves before hitting the trails hiking in this weather is permitted. just make sure you do precautionary preparatory things. you bring your cell phone, you tell people where you are going, you hydrate before, make sure you drink a lot of water. experts also say to stay away from sugary and alchoholic drinks…as they can dehydrate you. it is also important to make sure you are well hydrated before starting your hike…hydration is hard to catch up with if you’re already dehydrated. check this out…
