COS woman robbed at gunpoint helps police nab suspect

Quick thinking helped one Colorado Springs victim guide police to catching her thief on Friday night.

Scotty Johnson, 21, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery after he held a woman at gunpoint and took some of her personal items.

At around 4:50 p.m., Sand Creek officers responded to the 2500 block of E. Platte Avenue after getting a call about a robbery. The victim told police that she was asking a man for a ride when he pointed a gun at her and took her belongings.

The victim quickly noted the license plate of the suspect’s vehicle, leading to Johnson’s arrest at the 2400 block of E. St. Vrain Street.

After searching the vehicle, officers found the victim’s stuff as well as a handgun.
