3 charged in Denver killings linked to illegal pot

Denver’s district attorney has charged three men with murder, saying violence broke out after they came from Oklahoma to buy marijuana illegally at a northeast Denver home.

In a statement Thursday, Denver DA Mitch Morrissey said 32-year-old Chadd Evans, 23-year-old Dejuan Jones and 24-year-old Deashaun Turrentine were each charged with two counts of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated robbery.

The DA says Evans was taken into custody in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Turrentine in Las Vegas. Jones is at large. Attempts to seek comment from the two in custody were unsuccessful because no attorneys were on record for them.

The DA says one of the three men shot and killed last week was an associate of the three suspects.
