Woman pleads guilty to animal cruelty at Thornton pet store

A woman charged in a case of animal cruelty at a suburban Denver reptile shop has pleaded guilty.

The Denver Post reports 55-year-old Lynn Denise Kubic pleaded guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor animal cruelty and is scheduled to be sentenced July 27.

Her husband, 61-year-old Kenneth Kubic, was convicted of animal cruelty; and her son, 22-year-old Brian Kubic, pleaded guilty to animal cruelty after police raided the family’s store, Jurassic Pets, in Thornton.

During Kenneth Kubic’s trial, witnesses said kittens, hedgehogs, reptiles and rodents were confined in unsanitary conditions without food, water and veterinary care. Some of the animals died and others were euthanized after the shop was raided.

Jurassic Pets continues to operate two stores – the one raided by police in Thornton and another in Lakewood.
