Memorial North plans expansion

University of Colorado Health says it’s planning to expand its hospital on the north side of Colorado Springs

Groundbreaking for the $85 million expansion at Memorial Hospital North is slated for this fall.

The four story expansion will primarily house women’s and oncology services. Plans also call for expanding the emergency department, adding two operating rooms and increasing patient beds to 108.

UCH says inpatient admissions at Memorial North have increased 43-percent over the last two years, and outpatient visits have nearly quadrupled.

“Memorial Hospital has been a leader in health care in the Pikes Peak region for more than 100 years, and this expansion ensures we will be able to continue to address current and future health needs of the community,” said George Hayes, CEO of Memorial Hospital. “As the population is growing, so too is the demand for expert care in northern El Paso County and southern Douglas County. We are pleased to be able to offer residents access to advanced care, close to home.”

Children’s Hospital Colorado is also planning a full-service pediatric hospital on the Memorial North Campus. Both projects are scheduled to be completed in 2018.

Memorial Hospital North is located at 4050 Briargate Parkway, at the intersection of Briargate Parkway and N. Union Boulevard. It opened in 2007.
