Fears of copycat after Orlando massacre

A former FBI profiler in Colorado Springs says his worst fear is someone trying to copy the Orlando nightclub massacre.

Pete Klismet is a 20-year veteran of the FBI and a former hostage negotiator. Klismet says the Orlando shooting could inspire a copycat.

“Sometime within the next 2 weeks, we’re going to have another one of these incidents,” Klismet said.

Klismet calls it a “statistical reality.”

“I’m not trying to overly alert people or scare anybody, but in the past we’ve seen this occur and within 2 weeks. We can’t predict who out there saw what happened and almost thinks the guy in Orlando gave them permission to do this,” Klismet said.

Klismet also says he wants to know much more about the Orlando shooter’s religion.

“Was he a big fan of Sharia law? Under Sharia law, just being gay has the penalty of death,” said Klismet.

Countless questions remain about the shooter and his motive. But Klismet doesn’t think Omar Mateen shared many details with police despite negotiation tactics.

While many wait for answers, and even fear a copycat – many people around the world are coming together and standing strong.
